CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MEMO
To: Mayor and City Council Members
From: Greg Tabor, Chief of Police.
Date: November 10, 2010
Subject: 2010 Arkansas State Police Drug Task Force Grant Award and Budget Adjustment
PROPOSAL:
The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Drug Task Force grant award will be used by the 4th Judicial District
Drug Task Force to purchase two (2) replacement undercover vehicles to meet the needs of our community and
agency. We currently have two (2) undercover vehicles that are high mileage vehicles with on-going
maintenance issues that are in need of replacement. We will purchase SUV/pick-up trucks with this funding
due to the rural areas and rugged terrain within our jurisdictional boundaries of Washington and Madison
Counties. These types of vehicles are also needed for their storage, hauling capacity, and for transporting large
items of evidence associated with meth labs and marijuana growing operations.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends acceptance of the 2010 ASP Drug Task Force Grant award for the purchase of two
(2) undercover drug enforcement vehicles and approval of a budget adjustment in the amount of $38,604.00. If
you should have any comments or question regarding this grant award, please contact me at extension 500.
