WHEREAS, the City's GIS/911 Street Naming Committee recommends that`the retly
annexed portion of Ball Avenue (one block) and Van Asche be renamed because Fayetteville
already has a Ball Avenue and the Van Asche extension will relocate Van Asche to a major
boulevard to the south.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby renames
the one block section of North Ball Avenue from West Van Asche Drive to the Johnson City
Limits to Roosevelt Avenue.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby renames
the section of West Van Asche Drive that extends from North Ball Avenue to McGuire Street to
Jupiter Drive so that any new businesses or addresses on this section of Van Asche will not have
to change their addresses when the new Van Asche Boulevard is constructed within a few years.

Subject: Approval of a resolution to change the names of two segments of streets that
were annexed into the City of Fayetteville from the City of Johnson.
RECOMMENDATION
Rename the section of N. Ball Ave, which extends from Van Asche to the Johnson City
Limits, to Roosevelt Ave.
Rename the section of W Van Asche Dr that extends from Ball Ave to Mcquire St, to
Jupiter Dr
Note: These names have been pre -approved by the City's E911 Services
BACKGROUND
Due to Annexation Ordinance 5317 (the recent Johnson annexation) there is now more than
one Ball Ave within the City. To avoid E911 problems it is recommended the Ball Ave off
of Van Asche be renamed. There is only a single address on this street (Arkhola Sand &
Gravel Co).
Also:
When the new Van Asche is extended from Gregg Ave to McGuire, it will parallel the old
Van Asche to the north. It is recommended that a new name be given to this old section of
Van Asche while there is a single structure with an address located there (a electrical power
station—Southwestern Electric Power) .
BUDGET IMPACT
Approximately $400.00 for the installation of new street signs.
