Subject: Request for mayor approval of Change Order 1 to Lake Wilson Spillway Improvements
with Sweetser Construction for a contract decrease in the amount of $(6,300).
PROPOSAL
The Lake Wilson Spillway repair project includes dumped concrete in the downstream channel and also in an
eroded area. Sweetser Construction proposed using recycled concrete curb riprap, at a reduced price, in place of
dumped riprap for the first layer which will be covered up with a layer of grouted dumped riprap. The proposed
change order reflects a reduction in quantity of dumped riprap to be replaced by recycled concrete riprap.
Garver, who is providing construction phase services, has confirmed that the concrete riprap meets the
specifications for riprap in this project and will not be visible in the finished project.
Also in this change order, Sweetser anticipates an overrun in the total quantity of riprap needed for the project.
The total quantity of riprap has been increased by 10%.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of Change Order 1 to Sweetser Construction's contract.
BUDGET IMPACT
This change order will decrease the contract in the amount of $(6,300).
