A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT TO RECOGNIZE
FEDERAL FORFEITURE REVENUE FOR Q2/2009 IN THE AMOUNT OF
APPROXIMATELY $1,392.00 FOR THE FAYETTEVILLE POLICE
DEPARTMENT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves a
budget adjustment to recognize Federal Forfeiture Revenue for Q2/2009 in the amount of
approximately $1,392.00 for the Fayetteville Police Department.

Re: Approval of a Budget Adjustment to recognize Federal Forfeitures
Background
The Fayetteville Police Department receives forfeitures as a result of civil proceedings
concerning cash or property seized during a criminal investigation. Most of the forfeitures we
have received in the past are a direct result from the efforts of the officers we assign to the 4th
Judicial District Drug Task Force (4th DTF) and the local office of the Federal Drug Enforcement
Agency (DEA).
Discussion
We must follow the Guide to Equitable Sharing of Federally Forfeited Property for State
and Local Law Enforcement Agencies to spend federal forfeitures. All purchases utilizing these
funds will follow the City of Fayetteville Purchasing Policy.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of a budget adjustment to record federal forfeiture revenue
received during the second quarter of 2009 and appropriate expenses in the amount of $1,392.
Budget Impact
Increase expenses to correspond with federal forfeiture revenue received during the
second quarter of 2009.
