A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #09-39 AND APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF ONE (1) DIESEL POWERED TANDEM AXLE DUMP
TRUCK WITH SQUARE BODY FROM MHC KENWORTH/VOLVO OF
SPRINGDALE IN THE AMOUNT OF $109,190.00 FOR USE BY THE
TRANSPORTATION DIVISION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby awards Bid
#09-39 and approves the purchase of one (1) diesel powered tandem axle dump truck with square
body from MHC Kenworth/Volvo of Springdale in the amount of $109,190.00 for use by the
Transportation Division.

SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF ONE TANDEM AXLE DUMP TRUCK, SQUARE BODY
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one diesel powered tandem
axle dump truck with square body from MHC Kenworth / Volvo of Springdale, AR in the amount
of $109,190 for use by Transportation Division.
BACKGROUND: Bid #09-39 was opened on May 71h, 2009 for one tandem axle diesel powered
dump truck with square body. Eleven bid responses were received. A detailed tabulation sheet
is attached. This truck is for use by Transportation Division.
The low bid from Diamond International does NOT meet specs. The second lowest bid from
Truck Centers of Arkansas does NOT meet specs. The third lowest bid from MHC
KenworthNolvo does meet specs.
I recommend acceptance of the low bid that meets specs from MHC KenworthNolvo in the
amount of $109,190.00.
This truck is a replacement for unit #740, a truck with over 182,000 miles that is no longer
dependable for daily use. This replacement was budgeted for and approved in the 2009 capital
and operating budgets.
Funds are available for this purchase from project 02079 — Heavy Duty Utility Vehicles.
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on May 26, 2009.
