A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #08-71 AND APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF ONE (1) SIGN BODY TRUCK WITH CRANE
FROM GOLDEN CIRCLE FORD OF JACKSON, TENNESSEE IN
THE AMOUNT OF $73,582.00 FOR USE BY THE
TRANSPORTATION/TRAFFIC DIVISION, SUCH APPROVAL
BEING CONTINGENT UPON THE SIGN BODY MEETING THE
REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS*
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
awards Bid #08-71and approving the purchase of one (1) sign body truck with crane from
Golden Circle Ford of Jackson, Tennessee in the amount of $73,582.00 for use by the
Transportation/Traffic Division, such approval being contingent upon the sign body
meeting the required specifications.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Sign Body truck with crane
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one sign body truck with
crane from Golden Circle Ford for assignment to the Transportation Traffic Division in the
amount of $73,582.17.
BACKGROUND: Bid #08-58 was opened on September 10, 2008 for one sign body truck with
crane for assignment to the Transportation Traffic Division Five bid responses were received.
This bid was originally awarded to the low bidder Golden Circle Ford on Resolution #180-08,
contingent on sign body meeting specs. When the CAD drawings were received it was
determined that the sign body did not come close to meeting specifications.
This unit was re -bid. Bid #08-71 was opened on December 5, 2008. Six bid responses were
received. A detailed tabulation sheet is attached. After examining the CAD drawings that were
submitted, it was determined that the low bid from Golden Circle Ford does meet specs.
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Golden Circle Ford in the amount of $73,582.17.
This unit is a replacement for #317, a 1999 Ford that was budgeted for replacement in 2006.
Much of the delay is the result of difficulty finding a body manufacturer to build a sign body to
our specifications.
Funds for this purchase are available in Fleet project #02078 — Light / Medium Utility Vehicles.
This purchase was originally approved by the Equipment Committee on September 16th, 2008,
contingent upon the sign body meeting City specifications.
