BE IT RESOLVED BY THF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid #08-35 and approves the purchase of one (1) compact track
excavator from Williams Tractor in the amount of $26,264.00 for use by the Water
& Sewer
Division.

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Compact Track Excavator
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one compact Track
Excavator for Water & Sewer Division in the amount of $26,263.43.
BACKGROUND: Bid #08-35 was opened on March 7, 2008 for one compact track excavator
for assignment to the Water & Sewer Division. Seven bid responses were received. A detailed
tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Williams Tractor, Inc. of Fayetteville meets all specifications
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Williams Tractor, Inc. in the amount of $26,263.43.
This unit is a replacement for unit #649, a 2001 New Holland sub compact tractor backhoe that
was uneconomically repairable and was sold at the 2007 Fall auction. A very small machine is
required to access some areas where digging is required. The specified track excavator will
access these areas, but is much more durable and productive than the tractor backhoe it is
replacing.
Funds are available for this purchase in Fleet Replacement Special Project 02076 — Backhoes
and Loaders
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on March 25th, 2008.
