BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Counci: of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid #08-34 and approves the purchase of one (1) tandem -axle
truck Tractor from Truck Centers of Arkansas in the amount of 585,038.00 for use
by the Transportation Division

SUBJECT: Purchase of one Tandem Axle Truck Tractor

RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one Tandem Axle Truck
Tractor for use by Transportation Division in the amount of $85,038.00
BACKGROUND: Bid #08-34 was opened on March 7, 2008 for one Tandem Axle Truck
Tractor for assignment to the Transportation Division. Two bid responses were received. A
detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Truck Centers of Arkansas, of Springdale meets all specifications
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Truck Centers of Arkansas in the amount of
$85,038.00.
This unit is a replacement for unit #741, a 1996 Mack truck tractor that is no longer dependable
for daily operation nor of adequate capacity to haul the pavement milling machine. The specified
truck tractor is equipped with an additional axle and adequate horsepower to properly haul the
division's heaviest machinery.
Funds are available for this purchase in Fleet Replacement Special Project 02079 — Heavy
Trucks
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee on March 25th, 2008.
