BACKGROUND: Bid #08-18 was opened on February 12,2008 for three tandem -axle dump trucks with auxiliary hydraulics. Three bid responses were received. A detailed tabulation sheet is attached. The lowest bid from Truck Centers of Arkansas (Springdale) meets all specifications. I recommend acceptance of the bid from Truck Centers of Arkansas for two units in the amount of $210,960.00. These units are replacements for units #737 and #7381 both 2001 Sterling dump trucks. These units will be reassigned to Parks to replace a 1991 Mack with 183,000 miles and to the Fleet Rental Pool to replace a truck that was totally wrecked in 2007. The auxil ary hydraulic systems enable the operation of slide in sand spreaders and snow plows. Units #730 and #7311 dedicated sand/plow trucks will not be replaced. Replacement funds for these two units will be utilized to purchase two large slide -in units and plows and two medium size slide -in units and plows for installation on existing four wheel dnve dump trucks. This will double the available sand/plow units on the street with a net fleet reduction of two powered units. Funds are available for this purchase in Fleet Replacement Special Project 02079 — Heavy Utility Trucks. The purchase of these two trucks was approved by the Equipment Committee at the meeting on February 26, 2008. RESOLUTION NO.
