A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT IN
THE AMOUNT OF $16,206.00 FROM THE EDUCATIONAL
REIMBURSEMENT ACCOUNT FOR A PORTION OF THE COST
OF THE 2008 MAYORAL RUN-OFF ELECTION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby approves a budget adjustment in the amount of $16,206.00 from the
Education Reimbursement Account for a portion of the cost of the 2008 Mayoraltiwoun

The City had to have a run-off election for the Mayor's
race on November 25. As Fayetteville had a large turn
out of voters, the cost exceeded the budget amount.

approved educational expenses.

SUBJECT: Budget Adjustment: City Clerk Election Cost
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the attached Budget Amendment for $16,206 in the General Fund for
increased Election Cost due to the runoff election. The expense is fully covered by unused
Educational Reimbursements not needed in 2008.
Discussion
The City Clerk has in her 2008 Budget, $20,000 for Fayetteville's portion of the General Election.
Fayetteville contributes a portion of the total cost of the election based on votes and in 2008 the
expense was $23,889.15 which represented around 20% of the total cost. Due to having a runoff
election in which Fayetteville had a major turnout in votes, the additional cost was $26,316.35 which
represented 63% of the total cost.
Currently the City Clerk has been able to find some areas such as Public Notification to offset the
additional expense but the budget is estimated to be over by $16,206.
Budget Impact & Closing
The $16,206 r equested in this Budget Amendment comes from unused Educational Reimbursement
budget not being used in 2008. If you have any questions concerning the attachment, please feel free
