RE: Humane Society of the Ozarks donation for medical treatment
Recommedations: Staff recommends approval of a $20,000 donation from the Humane
Society of the Ozarks for medications, vaccines and medical treatment for the animals in
the care of the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.
Background: The Humane Society of the Ozarks and the Fayetteville Animal Shelter
have benefited from a long standing relationship throughout the years, working in
conjunction to assist homeless pets in finding loving homes, spay/neuter programs,
preventing animal cruelty, and educating the public concerning responsible pet
ownership. The funds were raised by the HSO through their 2008 Pet Calendar
campaign.
Discussion: These funds will offset the 2008 budgetary shortfall for vaccines,
medications, and medical treatment for the shelter animals.
Budget Impact: Addition of $20,000 for the purchase of vaccines, medications, and
medical treatment. There will not be any on-going expense associated with this donation.
