A RESOLUTION TO REQUEST THE ADVERTISING AND
PROMOTION COMMISSION TO FUND THE FAYETTEVILLE
ARTS FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Arts Festival is an essential thread in the fabric of
the Fayetteville Cultural Arts Environment; and
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Arts Festival attracts tourist and associated tourist
dollars for the Advertising and Promotion Commission and generates sales tax for the
City of Fayetteville; and
WHEREAS, the artistic community of the City of Fayetteville and the
surrounding area is a vibrant community with outstanding contributions to our citizens;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville is and should be supported to remain the
Cultural Arts Epicenter of Northwest Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Downtown Master Plan recognizes and promotes
the development and support of the Arts Community through the development of a
Cultural and Entertainment Arts District; and
WHEREAS, unlike in previous years, the A&P Commission has denied funding
for the 2008 Arts Festival which endangers the viability of the Arts Festival and its
location in Fayetteville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS*
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
respectively urges the A&P Commission to consider its denial of funding for the 2008
