A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #07-40 TO RIGGS POWER
SOLUTIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) ADDITIONAL BACKUP
POWER GENERATOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,066.00 TO PROVIDE
POWER FOR THE NEW FUEL FACILITY AND THE FLEET
OPERATIONS/TRANSPORTATION BUILDING.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:

Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
awards Bid #7-40 to Riggs Power Solutions for the purchase of one (1) additional
backup power generator in the amount of $28,066.00 to provide power for the new fuel
facility and the Fleet Operations/Transportation Building.

Subject: Purchase of one Emergency Generator

RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one Emergency Stand-by
Generator to power the new Happy Hollow Fuel facility and provide essential power for the Fleet
Operations/Transportation building.
BACKGROUND: The Fleet Operations 2007 CIP budget includes an emergency stand-by
generator to power the new Happy Hollow fuel facility and provide essential power for the Fleet
Operations/Transportation building. It is essential that fuel be available to City vehicles for
emergency operations. Fleet and Transportation personnel are essential to the majority of
expected emergency response efforts. The design of the building is such that management
cannot be conducted without electrical power. •
Bid #07-40 was opened on April 9, 2007 for three Lift Station Backup Power -Generators for the
Wastewater Treatment Division Six bid responses were received. A detailed tabulation sheet is
attached. Item 2 on this bid is an exact match for the Fleet Operations generator requirements.
The lowest bid from Riggs Power Solutions (J. A. Riggs Tractor Co.) meets all specifications
and is recommended for award by Wastewater Division for their needs. In addition, Riggs has
trained generator and switch gear technicians on call from Springdale and Fort Smith locations.
I recommend award of one additional generator for Fleet Operations to Riggs Power Solutions
in the amount of $26,401.14.
Funds are budgeted and available in the 2007 CIP budget, Project 07014;.FIeet-Emergency
Generator. Electrical connection and wiring will be contracted to King Electric under the City's
existing electrical contract.
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee at the meeting on April 24, 2007.
