A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #07-36 TO GLOVER'S TRUCK PARTS
& EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) LOW BOY SEMI
TRAILER IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,719.00 FOR USE BY THE
TRANSPORTATION DIVISION. - -
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
awards Bid #07-36 to Glover's Truck Parts & Equipment for the purchase of one (1) Low
Boy Semi Trailer in the amount of $55,719.00 for use by the Transportation Division.

Subject: Purchase of one low boy semi trailer
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one low boy semi trailer for
use by Transportation Division
BACKGROUND: Bid #07-36 was opened on April 6, 2007 for one sliding axle equipment semi
trailer for assignment to the Transportation Division. Four bid responses were received. A
detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Williams Tractor Company does not meet specifications in several areas:
38' Lower load deck length specified — Bid 36' 6"
6" x 30" hydraulic tilt cylinders specified — Bid 4" x 26.5"
212" stroke axle slide cylinder(s) specified — Bid 180"
12 month parts and labor warranty specified — Bid 6 months parts only
The second lowest bid from Glover's Truck Parts & Equipment meets all specifications.
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Glover's Truck Parts & Equipment in the amount of
$52,488.00. from,
This unit is a replacement for unit #955, a 1995 Holden folding gooseneck lowboy trailer. This
unit is past its 10 year scheduled replacement date and requires frequent repair. The rear
loading design of the replacement sliding axle trailer eliminates the need to detach the trailer
and unfold the gooseneck each time the trailer is loaded or unloaded, saving several hours of
crew time each time the several pieces of asphalt equipment are moved from job to job.
Funds are budgeted and available in the 2007 CIP budget, Project 02080, Other Vehicles /.
Equipment
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee at the meeting on April 24, 2007.
