HomeMy WebLinkAbout62-07 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO. 62-07 A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE CITY COUNCIL'S SUPPORT OF ROAD IMPACT FEES AND TO ENCOURAGE CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR THE ROAD IMPACT FEES ON APRIL 10, 2007 WHEREAS, the citizens of Fayetteville have long financed roads with their tax dollars to try to accommodate the rapid growth of our City; and WHEREAS, more revenue is needed to increase the capacity of our streets and roads because of increased congestion caused by new developments; and WHEREAS it is fair and just that those who build and occupy new developments which cause this increased traffic congestion should help the taxpayers by paying a portion of the costs of new or larger roads through road impact fees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1: That a majority of the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby expresses its support of the Road Impact Fee Ordinance presented to the citizens of Fayetteville for their vote on April 10, 2007, and requests the citizens to vote for the road impact fees so that those causing our increasing traffic congestion by building and occupying new developments in Fayetteville will help our current citizen taxpayers shoulder the burden of new roads for new developments.
