A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT SENATE BILL 590 TO HELP FUND
INPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT IN NORTHWEST
ARKANSAS
WHEREAS, Senator Sue Madison has sponsored Senate Bill 590 to help fimd the
critical need in Northwest Arkansas for acute treatment and inpatient beds for the mental health
of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, local law enforcement including the Fayetteville Police Department need a
local facility to care for citizens who because of mental disease or distress may pose a threat to
themselves or others; and
WHEREAS, ft is just and proper for the State to fund this facility as part of the statewide
effort to provide Arkansas mental health treatment, shelter and therapy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS•
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby expresses
its full support for Senate Bill 590 and asks that the Arkansas Legislature approve this bill so that
the critical need for mental therapy and inpatient care can be furnished in Northwest Arkansas ,,,,,,,,,,,,

RE Resolution in support of Senate Bill 590 — funding for 36 beds for
mental health patients at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale
• Alderman Ferrell asked that 1 draft a Resolution to support Senator
Madison's Bill No. 590 to fund 36 beds for mental health patients in
Northwest Arkansas. Attached is the Resolution which Alderman Ferrell
shall ask to place upon the Agenda during the City Council meeting of
March 6, 2007
