RESOLUTION NO. 38-07
A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #07-04 TO YALE MATERIAL
HANDLING -GAMMON FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) GLP070 VX
FORK LIFT TRUCK IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,800.00 FOR USE BY THE
FLEET RENTAL POOL.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
awards Bid #07-04 to Yale Material Handling -Gammon for the purchase of one (1)
GLP070 VX Fork Lift Truck in the amount of $28,800.00 for use by the Fleet Rental Pool.

Subject: Purchase of one Fork Lift Truck
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one fork lift truck in the
amount of $28,800.
BACKGROUND: Bid #07-04 was opened on January 17, 2007 for one fork lift truck for
assignment to the fleet rental pool and primarily used by Fleet, Parks, and Transportation
Divisions. Five bid responses were received. A detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Grady Jones Company does not meet minimum specifications. Deficiencies
include: control location and configuration, puncture proof tires not included, fork carriage width.
The second lowest bid from Barloworld Handling LP does not meet minimum specifications.
Deficiencies include: horsepower, drawbar pulling power, gradeability, lift height, lift speed.
The third lowest bid from Hugg and Hall Equipment (Daewoo) does not meet minimum
specifications. Deficiencies include: drawbar pulling power, gradeability, lift height, lift speed,
wheelbase, and fork carriage width.
The forth lowest bid from Yale Material Handling of Springdale meets all specifications.
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Yale Material Handling in the amount of $28,800.00.
This forklift is a replacement for unit #940, a 1979 Allis-Chalmers military surplus lift truck that is
no longer safe or serviceable for daily lifting and loading requirements of the three divisions in
the Happy Hollow complex.
Funds are budgeted and available in the 2007 CIP budget, Project 02080, Other
Vehicles/Equipment.
This purchase was approved by the Equipment Committee at their meeting on February 13,
2007.
