Background: This is the first year we have applied for and been awarded the Target Law Enforcement Grant for Community Policing. Discussion: Originally the grant was to be used for the purchase of a power point projector, however the grant was $500.00 and not $1,500.00, so the purchase of a power point projector is not possible. The Target funds can be used for other Community Policing supplies. Budget Impact: The amount of $500 will be added to the Crime Prevention Supplies account. A budget adjustment is attached to this request. In addition to the grant check, we have enclosed a Charitable Contribution Receipt. Please take a moment to complete the receipt and retum it to us so we can comply with Internal Revenue Service guidelines. We also ask that you identify us as "Target" if you choose to produce any announcements or articles in recognition of this grant. Since 1946, we have given 5% of our income to the communities we serve. Target is proud to partner with organizations like yours to inspire education, make the arts affordable and accessible, and foster safe families and communities nationwide. Thank you for the work you do every day to make a difference in your community Sincerely, Target Community Relations Enclosures: Check, Charitable Contribution Receipt 33 South 6th Street, CC3600, Minneapols, MN 55402 /430 Newpark Mall, 31d Floor, Newark, CA 94560 50374 FAYETTEVILLE THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS POLICE DEPARTMENT Target Inc. 3545 N. Shiloh Drive Fayetteville, AR 72703 Dear Sr or Madam: May 21, 2007 The Fayetteville Police Department in it's effort to better serve the community is asking for the assistance of Target. This letter is to inform you of our desire to apply for a 2007 Target Law Enforcement Grant. We are requesting $]500 to use for the purchase of a multi -media projector. Currently the Police Department has appropriate laptop computers for teaching, but rarely have access to a multi -media projector. The following divisions of Fayetteville Police Department would utilize the projector to educate and inform the citizens of Fayetteville about a wide variety of topics: • The Community Policing Division would utilize the projector when speaking to Neighborhood Watch Groups, Neighborhood Associations, Bank Alarm Response System, Underage Drinking/Fraudulent Identification, Child Passenger Safety, Graffiti Prevention/Removal and during the Citizen's Police Academy. • The School Resource Officer Division when presenting information to school aged children on a wide variety of topics such as bullying, alcohol awareness, and drug awareness. In the past there have been several instances in which material was being presented, but no multi -media projector was available, so other less desirable teaching measures had to be used. We believe that this valuable teaching tool would help educate the Citizen's of Fayetteville by accommodating a wide variety of learning styles and by doing so, make Fayetteville a safer place to live.
