MCLARTY FORD FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) REGULAR
CAB 4x4 UTILITY BODY TRUCK WITH CRANE IN THE

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid # 07-53 to Landers-McLarty Ford for the purchase of one (1)
regular cab 4x4 utility body truck with crane in the amount of $50,703.14 for use

Subject: Purchase of one Regular cab 4x4 Utility Body Truck with Crane
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one regular cab 4x4 utility
body truck with crane for use by the Fleet Operations Division.
BACKGROUND: Bid #07-53 was opened on June 12, 2007 for one regular cab 4x4 chassis
with utility body and crane for assignment to the Fleet Operations Division Eight bid responses
were received. A detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
During the past year, Fleet staff has done extensive research on durability of venous
manufacturers of utility bodies and determined that the quality and durability of Reading bodies
is superior to any other in the mid price range. Reading bodies are available to all truck dealers
from numerous sources Specifications for this bid call for "Reading utility body or approved
equal". All competitive brand bodies bid list numerous exceptions and are not approved as equal
to the body specified.
The bid from Landers-McLarty Ford of Bentonville is the only bid that meets all specifications.
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Landers-McLarty Ford in the amount of $50,703.14.
This unit is a replacement for unit #295, a 1992 Ford F-350 service body truck that is no longer
dependable for daily service. Four wheel drive is required for the off road construction and
inclement weather conditions encountered by Fleet maintenance personnel and was previously
approved by the equipment committee during 2007 budget preparation.
Funds are available for this purchase in Fleet Replacement Special Project 02078 —
Light/Medium Trucks.
Purchase of this truck from Landers McLarty Ford was approved by the Equipment Committee
at the meeting of June 26, 2007

Bid #07-53 was opened on June 12, 2007 for one regular cab 4X4 chassis with utility body and crane
for assignment to the Fleet Operations Division. Eight bid responses were received A detailed
tabulation sheet is attached.
