FARM AND LAWN EQUIPMENT OF SPRINGDALE FOR THE
PURCHASE OF TWO (2) JOHN DEERE 6615 TRACTORS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $93,894.00 FOR USE BY THE WATER & SEWER
DIVISION AT THE OMI HAY FARM.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid #07-44 to Countryside Farm and Lawn Equipment of
Springdale for the purchase of Two (2) John Deere 6615 Tractors in the amount of

Subject: Purchase of two John Deere 6615 Tractors
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of two John Deere 6615
tractors for use by Water and Sewer Division at the OMI Hay Farm.
BACKGROUND: Bid #07-44 was opened on May 15, 2007 for two four wheel dnve diesel
tractors for assignment to the Water and Sewer Division - OMI Hay Farm. Two bid responses
were received. A detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Countryside Farm & Lawn Equipment of Spnngdale meets all
specifications.
recommend acceptance of the bid from Countryside Farm & Lawn Equipment in the amount of
$93,894.00. They have offered the City an optional trade in on the two old tractors of $53,000.
These units are replacements for units #562 and #563, both 1999 New Holland 8160 tractors.
These units are scheduled for replacement after six years. This commercial haying equipment
receives several times the annual hours of use as typical family farm equipment The ability to
replace this equipment after seven years and receive a 56% trade-in allowance makes good
economic sense. We also believe that the trade-in option is more advantageous for the City in
this case than public auction.
Funds are available for this purchase in Fleet Replacement Special Project 02083 —
Tractor/Mowers.
This purchase from Countryside Farm and Lawn Equipment was approved by the Equipment
Committee at the meeting of May 29, 2007
