RESOLUTION NO. 101-07
A RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT AND APPROVE THE
DECEMBER 2006 AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
WHEREAS, the Fayetteville Airport Advisory Board approved the most recent
(December 2006) Airport Master Plan after numerous strategic planning sessions; and
WHEREAS, this Master Plan includes planned improvements and developments for
both air and landside projects over the next twenty years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,•ARKANSAS•
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby approves
the updated Airport Master Plan of December 2006 and thanks the Fayetteville Airport Advisory
Board for their diligent and effective work improving Drake Field into our state's best general
aviation airport.

SUBJECT: Accept the Airport Master Plan Update, December 2006 as the master
development plan for improvements to Fayetteville Municipal
Airport, Drake Field
RECOMMENDATION: Approve by resolution of the City Council the Airport Master Plan
for the Fayetteville Municipal Airport, Drake Field presented to the Council by the Airport
Board Chairman, Bob Nickle, as part of the annual report to the Council January 18, 2007.
The purpose of this action is to approve the plan as the master development plan for the
Airport.
BACKGROUND- Based on the numerous Strategic Planning sessions conducted by the
Fayetteville Municipal Airport Board to develop a vision of the future of Fayetteville, Drake
Field and the excellent Master Plan Update produce by Barnard Dunkelberg Airport
Planning Consultants, a master development plan was developed and included as part of
the overall Master Plan. The information was consolidated into the Airport Layout Plan
which includes air and landside development and breaks the improvements into projects
over the next 20 years. The FAA approved the Airport Layout Plan which will be published
in the very near future.
DISCUSSION: Airport Development is unique as it involves runways, taxiways, hangars
and parking ramps not otherwise utilized in other community development projects. While
the buildings and infrastructure are similar to other industrial development projects, the
airport property has very limited utility to the rest of the City except as an airport serving
the needs of the citizens. This action will allow City Airport Staff to facilitate the Airport
Development in accordance with the provisions of the Master Development Plan.
BUDGET IMPACT: The purpose of this action is to approve the development plan and
does not involve budget.
