BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS* Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby authorizes the Fayetteville Police Department to destroy certain records pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 14-2-204, Municipal Police Records. Background: The Fayetteville Police Department has kept documents since the 1970's. These documents are stored in an off site warehouse or at the old City Jail site. While determining an appropriate Records Retention Schedule these documents were determined to be of an age to be destroyed. These documents do not include investigative case files. Discussion: These documents are taking up space and are no longer needed for prosecution of cases Upon reviewing Arkansas law 14-2-204 Municipal Police Department Records the attached listed documents falls within these guidelines for destruction. • Budget Impact: The Police Department will utilize a shredding service.
