A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A
REPLACEMENT IBM AS400 RECORDS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
SERVER VIA THE STATE OF ARKANSAS PURCHASING
CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $93,908.00 FOR THE
FAYETTEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby approves the purchase of a replacement IBM AS400 Records
Management System Server via the State of Arkansas Purchasing Contract in the
amount of $93,908.00 for the Fayetteville Police Department.

RE: Police/Fire Records Management System computer replacement
Recommendation:
It is recommended the City Council adopt a resolution approving the purchase of a
replacement AS400 Records Management System Server for Police/Fire records via the
State of Arkansas Purchasing Contract
Background:
•
The current AS400 Public Safety Records Management Computer System was
purchased in 2000 Its replacement is scheduled for the year 2007. The current system
has reached its maximum processing capability and cannot be upgraded
Discussion:
•
The I.T. Division recently learned of some upgrade incentives for the purchase of this
equipment by the end of 2006.. If this computer is ordered by the end of the year, we
hope to take advantage of these upgrades. Delivery of the computer and the payment for
it will not take place until January or February of 2007. The funds to pay for this
equipment will be available at that time.
Budget Impact.
None — The funding for this project is scheduled for 2007.
