A RESOLUTION AWARDING BID #06-61 AND APPROVING
THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) MEDIUM TRACK EXCAVATOR
FROM WILLIAMS TRACTOR COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF
$98,747.00 FOR USE BY THE TRANSPORTATION DIVISION;
AND APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT IN THE AMOUNT
OF $100,000.00.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of theeeCity of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid #06-61 and approves the purchase of one (1) Medium Track
Excavator from Williams Tractor Company in the amount of $98,747.00 for use
by the Transportation Division.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby approves a Budget Adjustment in the amount of $100,000.00.

needed for the purchase of one diesel powered medium.

the Transportation Division's Trail Development' program.
Project or Item Deleted/Reduced:
Reduce the Trails account in the Trail Development
Capital Project by $100,000.00.
Justification of -this Increase:
The use of a track excavator is often needed during the
construction of new pedestrian trails. The Transportation
Division has had to rent this type of equipment on a
regular basis throughout the life of the Trail Development
program. The purchase of this expansion equipment will
save money by decreasing the need for rental
equipment, as well as increase the efficiency of the Trail
Development crew.
Justification of this Decrease:
This expansion has been approved by the Equipment
Committee. Staff has recommended a resolution
approving Bid #06-61 to award Williams Tractor, Inc., with
the lowest bid for this purchase. Adequate funding will
remain to meet 2006 objectives. Fleet is recognizing
revenue due to a transfer from the Sales Tax Capital
Improvements Fund.

Subject: Purchase of one Medium Track Excavator
RECOMMENDATION. That City Council approve the purchase of one medium track excavator
for use by Transportation Division in the amount of $98,747.00.
BACKGROUND: Bid #06-61 was opened on October 18, 2006 for one diesel powered Medium
Track Excavator for use by Transportation Division Three bid responses were received. A
detailed tabulation sheet is attached.
The lowest bid from Williams Tractor Company of Fayetteville meets all specifications and offers
an acceptable delivery schedule.
I recommend acceptance of the bid from Williams Tractor in the amount of $98,747.00.
This excavator is an expansion unit approved at the September Equipment Committee meeting.
Productivity gains established with a rented excavator over a five month period substantiate
economic advantage of this purchase.
Funds are available for a budget adjustment to fund this purchase from Capital Improvement
funds.
The Equipment Committee approved purchase of this excavator from bid 06-61 in the meeting
on October 31, 2006.
