A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE WASHINGTON
COUNTY QUORUM COURT'S DENSITY
REGULATIONS FOR LAND LOCATED WITHIN TWO
MILES OF FAYETTEVILLE'S CITY LIMITS
WHEREAS, some developers have begun using decentralized sewer systems in
order to build overly dense and inappropriate developments just outside the city limits of
Fayetteville and othe:- cities in Washington County, and
WHEREAS, County residents within established large acreage neighborhoods
have and will be adversely affected by this urban sprawl development adjoining their
homes and farms; and
WHEREAS, only the Washington Quorum Court has the legal authority and
power to provide protection for these county residents by reasonably limiting
development in unincorporated lands within two miles of the city limits to one house per
acre which will be much more compatible with the current rural nature of these lands.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
expresses its full support for the efforts of the Washington County Quorum Court to
protect its county res idents within two miles of the city limits by restricting development
to one house per acre.
