A RESOLUTION APPROVING A BUDGET ADJUSTMENT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,800.00 FOR SALARIES AND
WAGES EXPENSE RELATED TO THE COMPENSATION
OF PLANNING COMMISSIONERS
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1 That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
approves a Budget Adjustment in the amount of $21,800.00 for Salaries and Wages
expense related to the compensation of Planning Commissioners.

SUBJECT: Budget Adjustment Request — Planning Commissioner's Compensation
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that City Council approve a budget adjustment for $21,800 for Salaries & Wages
expense related to the compensation of the Planning Commissioners
Background & Discussion:
City Council approved Ordinance 4892 on June 20, 2006 which amends Fayetteville Code §33.108
Compensation as follows:
"The members of the Planning Commission shall receive $375.00
per month during their service on the Planning Commission."
City staff is recommending that the budget adjustment be approved in the amount of $21,800. The
funding is required to budget for the Salaries and FICA expense related to the approval of Ordinance
4892 which will pay nine (9) commissioners at $375.00/month for a total of six (6) months.
Budget Impact:
The funding for the commissioner pay will come from the General Fund Use of Fund Balance. The
2007 impact will be $43,600 for compensation expense.
Conclusion:
If approved, the $21,800 will be added to the Salaries & Wages accounts for the Planning
Commission Program. The funds are needed to comply with Ordinance 4892.

ORDINANCE NO. 4892
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND § 33.108 COMPENSATION
OF ARTICLE VII PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
FAYETTEVILLE CODE TO PROVIDE THAT PLANNING
COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE COMPENSATED
WHEREAS, Arkansas law provides that municipal planning commissioners shall be entitled to
receive compensation if so authorized by ordinance; and
WRFREAS, the Planning Commissioners devote many hours weekly in their statutory duty to
help plan our rapid development during Subdivision Committee meetings, Agenda meeting, regular
Planning Commission meetings and special Planning Commission meetings (Downtown Code, Hillside
Task Force, 2025 Plan, etc.); and
WHEREAS, it is right and proper that these appointed commissioners receive some
compensation for all the valuable and necessary work that they perform for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby repeals § 33.108
Compensation in its entirety and enacts a replacement §33.108 as follows:
"§ 33.108 Compensation
` The members of the Planning Commission shall receive
$375.00 per month during their service on the Planning
Commission."
