FREIGHTLINER OF SPRINGDALE FOR THE PURCHASE OF
ONE (1) TANDEM AXLE DUMP TRUCK IN THE AMOUNT OF
$90,233.00 FOR USE BY THE WATER AND SEWER DIVISION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS•
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas
hereby awards Bid #05-73 to Barloworld Freightliner of Springdale for the
purchase of One (1) Tandem Axle Dump Truck in the amount of $90,233.00 for
use by the Water and Sewer Division.
PASSED and APPROVED this 3rd day of January, 2006.

Subject: Dump Truck Purchase
RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of one Tandem Axle Dump
Truck from Barloworld Freightliner of Springdale in the amount of $90,233.
BACKGROUND: Bid #05-73 was awarded on November 15, 2005 for four Tandem Axle Dump
Trucks for use by Transportation. An additional identical unit is budgeted in 2006 for Water and
Sewer Division as a replacement for unit 717. This bid was awarded to Barloworld Freightliner
in the amount of $90,233 per unit. Barloworld will honor this bid for the additional unit and can
build with a 2006 engine if the order is received in January
Funds are available for the replacement in 9700.1920.5802.00, Project #02079.1.
The purchase of this unit was approved by the Equipment Committee on November 30, 2005,
subject to budget approval.

SUBJECT: Dump Truck Purchase
Bid #05-73 was awarded on November 15, 2005 for four Tandem Axle Dump Trucks for use by
Transportation Division. Two additional identical units are budgeted in 2006 for Water and Sewer
Division. One is a replacement for unit 717 and the other is a requested expansion.
This bid was awarded to Barloworld Freightliner of Springdale in the amount of $90,233.00 per unit.
Barioworld will honor this bid for two additional units and can build with 2006 engines if the order is
received in January.
I request approval of the Equipment Committee to place the purchase of no more than two tandem
axle dump trucks from Barloworid Freightliner on the January 3, .2006 Council agenda. Quantity
submitted will be subject to budget approval.
Unit 717 is a 1992 Mack single axle dump that is three years past scheduled replacement and is
smaller than necessary for efficient operations.
