In addition, Staff asks for authority to bid this work and enter into a contract if the bid is within the specified budgetary range. Recommendation* Staff recommends that the City Council pass a resolution authorizing this restoration. Background: The City owns a building (known as the Walker House) which is located adjacent to the Waxhaws Senior Center. This two-story, wood -frame building was originally the family dwelling of the Walkers, but was used for some time by the Council on Aging (COA) as office space. More recently it has been used by COA for storage. The COA has decided that it has no further need for this building. Discussion: • • March 18 memo, page two To protect the integrity of this city -owned asset, there is a need for remedial work on the exterior of the structure. The needed items are: tear -off and replace the roof, replace the gutter system, replace the HVAC unit, shore -up the foundation, and, paint the exterior lumber and power wash the exterior vinyl. Budget Impact: The budgetary impact of this renovation is estimated at $33,738. These funds are presently budgeted in the Building Improvements Category. • • RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE USE OF BUILDING IMPROVEMENT FUNDS FOR THE EXTERIOR RESTORATION OF THE WALKER HOUSE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $33,738.00; AND AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR THE PROJECT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1.
