Date: January 24, 2005 Subject: Purchase of mud size sedans from State of Arkansas Purchase Contract RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the purchase of four mid size sedans from the State of Arkansas Purchase Contract from Landers Ford for $12,270.00 each, a total of $49,080.00 Due to the volume of the State contract, we cannot expect fleet incentives provided from the manufacturers for a City of Fayetteville bid to approach prices available on the State contract. BACKGROUND: In the 2005 budget, replacement sedans for unit #147 and 106 were approved #147 is a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria, a former police car with 115,000 miles that is no longer reliable. #106 is a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria, a former police car with 105,000 miles that is out of service and is not economically feasible to repair Also approved in the 2005 budget were two expansion units for Police. Funds are available for the purchase of these mid size sedans in the Police/Passenger Project #02081. The Equipment Committee meeting was rescheduled from January 25, 2005 to January 31, 2005. We anticipate approval of this request by the Equipment Committee at that meeting • • RESOLUTION NO.
