A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LUMP SUM ALLOCATION IN
THE AMOUNT OF $457,750.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF
EASEMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
GRAVITY SEWER LINES FROM THE GREGG AVENUE LIFT
STATION TO THE NEW HAMESTRING LIFT
STATION/WASTEWATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
(WSIP) WL -4; AND APPROVING A 10% CONTINGENCY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $45,775.00.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
hereby approves a lump sum allocation in the amount of $457,750.00 for the
purchase of easements required for the construction of gravity sewer lines from
the Gregg Avenue Lift Station to the New Hamestring Lift Station/Wastewater
System Improvements Project (WSIP) WL -4.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
hereby approves a 10% contingency in the amount of $45,775.00.

Subject: Approval of $457,750 plus a 10% contingency to purchase easements,
based on appraisals, for Wastewater system Improvements Project line
WL -4 (Gregg Lift Station to I Iamestring Lift Station).
RECOMMENDATION : Staff recommends approval of $457,750 plus a 10%
contingency of $45,775 to purchase easements for construction of gravity sewer lines
from the Gregg Avenue Lift Station to the new Ilamestring Lift Station, project WL -4.
BACKGROUND: As part of the Wastewater System Improvements Project (WSIP), the
City of Fayetteville is constructing a gravity sewer transmission main from the planned
lift station at Gregg Avenue to the new Hamestring Lift Station (northwest) on Sunshine
Road. This is a 48" diameter gravity line that will carry flows from over 35% of the
City. The easements, consisting of both temporary construction casements (TCE's) and
permanent easements (PE's), required are those properties where the wastewater lines
will be placed or properties required for access into the alignment areas where the
wastewater lines will be placed. Because it must follow the terrain, it will be installed on
properties both within and outside the City limits.
DISCUSSION: Negotiations are underway with individual property owners.
BUDGET IMPACT: Payment for casements will be from the 3/4 cent sales tax bond
election held on November 6, 2001 for the Wastewater System Improvements Project.
Funding through the Arkansas Soil and Water Conservation Commission will not be used
to fund this expense.
