A RESOLUTION TO ENCOURAGE THE CITY TO
CONSIDER THE SALE OF ABOUT FOUR ACRES
OF CITY PROPERTY TO PROJECT FOR THE VICTIMS
OF FAMILY VIOLENCE, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A NEW SHELTER
WHEREAS, the Project for Victims of Family Violence Inc. has long offered
vital protection and nurturing services to Fayetteville women and their children who have
been victims of domestic battery; and
WHEREAS, the current Project for Victims of Family Violence Inc. shelter is
inadequate to fully meet the needs of all those Fayetteville citizens who need shelter,
protection and services; and
WHEREAS, if the Project for Victims of Family Violence Inc. can obtain the
ownership of about four acres of property, it is likely the Project can obtain funding to
construct a much needed, new shelter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS -
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby
encourages the City to consider the sale of about four acres of city property near
Highway 265 for the construction of a new shelter for the Project for Victims of Family
Violence Inc.
