HomeMy WebLinkAbout207-04 RESOLUTION• • RESOLUTION NO. 207-04 A RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE THE FAYETTEVILLE SENIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL'S HARD AND EFFECTIVE WORK TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE FAYETTEVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOL HOMELFSSS PROGRAM WHEREAS, there is a great need for public contributions to the Fayetteville Public School Homeless Program so that our neediest students can receive the best possible education and necessary assistance; and WHEREAS, the number of homeless students continues to grow, and WHEREAS, the Fayetteville High School Student Council raised the goal this year from last year's $7,500.00 to $10,000.00 for 2004; and WHEREAS, the Student Council was aided by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and Fayetteville City Council in its attempt to reach this year's goal to increase donations by over one-third; and WHEREAS, President Jessie Elledge and other members of the Student Council braved a very frigid night during the Homeless Vigil and not only met their donation goal, but far exceeded it (doubling what was contributed last year). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby congratulates President Jessie Elledge and all of the Fayetteville High School Student Council for their hard work in planning, seeking early donations, and persevering through a frigid night to raise more than twice as much for the Fayetteville School Homeless Program as has every been raised before during the Homeless Vigil. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby expresses its personal thanks to the members of the Fayetteville High School Student Council and teachers for their hospitality toward the aldermen, mayor and city attorney during the Homeless Vigil. • • Section 3: That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby thanks the hundreds of good Fayetteville citizens who demonstrated by their generous donations that there is no more charitable, nor better place to live than Fayetteville, Arkansas.
