RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of amendment #16 to the contract with Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle LTD in the amount of $9515.00 for professional services for the design of the intersection improvements at Mountain and School streets. BACKGROUND Improvements are currently underway in the reconstruction of the School Ave. and Archibald Yellintersection to the south of the library site. On July 13, 2004 the City • Council approved additional improvements to School Ave. and the intersection of Mountain and School to enhance the approach to the new library driving north on School Ave. from Archibald Yell. DISCUSSION The intersection of Mountain St. and School Ave. has been a safety concern since construction on the new library began. A need has been identified for traffic calming and four-way stop signs In addition, there is a desire to enhance the esthetics and provide design continuity with Dickson St. in pavers at the crosswalks of the intersection. Garver Engineering — the civil engineering firm of record on the library project hired through MS&R needs to redesign the intersection to allow these improvements. BUDGET IMPACT This is within the budget established by City Council for these improvements. # # # 1 • • RESOLUTION NO.
