That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby accepts a Bulletproof Partnership Grant in the amount of 50% of the costs of Bulletproof vests up to an amount of $48,925.00 and approves a contract with Cruse Uniforms and Equipment to purchase up to $97,850.00 worth of bulletproof vests. The police department would match up to the $48,925.00 over the next four years to replace vests as their effectiveness warranty expires. The matching funds for this grant are included in our current budget and will be requested in the annual budget for the future. The low bidder was Cruse Uniform located in Little Rock, Arkansas. The bid included a price for purchasing from 31 up to 104 vests. These quantities will allow the Department to replace 33 vests whose warranty expires by the end of 2002 and purchase new vests for all new officers hired this year.
