HomeMy WebLinkAbout139-02 RESOLUTION• • RESOLUTION NO. 139-02 A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THAT THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE SHALL ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENTIRE SECTION OF HIGHWAY 180 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY UPON COMPLETION OF IMPROVEMENTS FROM TOWNSHIP TO FUTRALL. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the City Council of Fayetteville, Arkansas hereby affirms that the City of Fayetteville shall assume responsibility for the entire section of Highway 180 within the corporate limits of the City upon completion of improvements from Township to Futrall. In the past we have discussed the City assuming responsibility for this route following completion of a widening project. Our commitment, as shown in the proposed 2003- 2005 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, is to widen the portion of Highway 180 from Township to Futrall Dnve. We do not propose any work on the section of Highway 180 from Gregg to North College. Our understanding when we scheduled the work on Gregg, was that the City would assume responsibility for all of Highway 180 from North College to Futrall Drive. Our funding limitations will not permit including the section of Highway 180 on Township within the project. Also, we do not wish to leave a "stub" State Highway from North College to Gregg. Therefore, in order to proceed with project development, we request the City's concurrence in this approach in the foam of a City Council Resolution stating that upon completion of the work on Highway 180 from Township to Futrall the entire section of Highway 180 ftom North College to Futrall will become the responsibility of the City of Fayetteville. We are prepared to begin development of this important project upon receiving concurrence from the City. If we need to discuss this matter further, please advise. cc: Director Robert L.
