Current Status The construction cost estimate provided by our skatepark consultants Purkiss-Rose, RSI is $384,855. Parks and Recreation has been working more than two years to obtain funding for the project We have received two grants, a $100,000 outdoor matching grant from Arkansas Parks and Tourism and a $5,000 pending grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. Fayetteville Skaters have also taken an active role in the fund-raising process accumulating over $5,000 by working on vanous fund-raising activities, including a can -drive, letter writing campaign, and donations from birthday parties. Approximately 25 percent of the project cost will be paid for by grants and skater fund-raising. The remaining funds were allocated from the Park Land Ordinance and the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program. Parks and Recreation staff's goal is to bring a successful bid and contract to the City Council in the next couple of months, in order to begin construction this fall. Recommendation The Parks and Recreation Division seeks approval to allow the City to enter into an agreement with the Tony Hawk Foundation. The Tony Hawk Foundation will provide a $5,000 grant to the Fayetteville Skatepark upon receiving signed agreement.
