A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING THE MAYOR AND STAFF TO
WORK WITH LOCAL PUBLIC UTILITY COMPANIES TO SEEK
SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS
ARISING FROM THE PRUNING AND REMOVAL OF TREES NEAR
OVERHEAD LINES.
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has established minimum standards for
the pruning or removal of trees on public lands; and
WHEREAS, encroaching tree branches pose an acknowledged danger to
overhead utility lines; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Fayetteville have expressed alarm over the
excessive pruning and removal of public space trees near overhead utility lines; and
that
WHEREAS, a cooperative effort by the City and representatives of the local
public utility companies offers the best hope of achieving long-term solutions to this
dilemma.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS.
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, hereby
encourages the Mayor and Staff to work with local public utility companies to seek
short-term and long-term solutions to the problems arising from the pruning and
removal of trees near overhead lines.
