RESOLUTION NO.110-02
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LEGISLATION ALLOWING LOCAL
GOVERNMENTS TO ENTER INTO A NON -DISCLOSURE
AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF
FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION REGARDING LOCAL SALES
TAX COLLECTION INFORMATION.
WHEREAS, local sales and use taxes provide important revenues to support
basic services that communities provide to their citizenry; and
WHEREAS, local sales and use taxes are collected on behalf of local
governments by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (ADFA)
and ADFA retains three percent (3%) of such local sales and use taxes as a cost of
collection on behalf of local governments; and that
WHEREAS, ADFA currently does not provide adequate information
regarding the collection and administration of local sales and use taxes to Local
Jurisdictions; and that
WHEREAS, legislation should be enacted permitting the execution of a non-
disclosure agreement between local governments and ADFA in order to provide
additional information regarding Local sales and use tax collections.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of Fayetteville, Arkansas, hereby supports
legislation to revise the collection and administration of local sales and use taxes by
authorizing a non -disclosure agreement between the Arkansas Department of
Finance and Administration and local governments permitting the release of local
sales and use tax collection information to the chief financial officer of the local
government.
