RESOLUTION NO. 35-01

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF BIDS
FOR CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND SERVICES
•
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville placed for bids various construction
materials and services needed in 2001 and received appropriate, legal bids for these
materials and services; and
WHEREAS, these low bids should be approved and the contracts awarded.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the City Council hereby accepts the attached bids for the amount
stated and to the bidder (as also shows below):

SUBJECT: 2001 Bid Awards for Materials
Qi
Bids have been opened for construction materials utilized by the
Street Division and other divisions of the City for the fiscal year
2001. The results of those bids are attached and this memo has staff's
award recommendations.
The curb and gutter bid only had one bidder and should be awarded to
Jerry D. Sweetser, Inc.
The red hillside gravel bid only had one bidder and should be awarded
to Les Rogers, Inc.
The de-icing salt bid only had one bidder and should be awarded to
Morton Salt.
The portland cement bid had two bidders and should be awarded to Tune
Concrete Company.
The hot -applied thermoplastic pavement marking bid had two bidders and
should be awarded to Time Striping, Inc.
The asphalt oil bid had three bidders with one line item (AC -30)
having no bids and it will not be re -bid. Item #2 (AC -20) only had one
bid and should be awarded to National Oil & Supply, Inc. Item #3 only
had one bid and should be awarded to Ergon Asphalt & Emulsion. Item #4
only had one bidder but will not be awarded.
The ready -mix concrete bid had three bidders and should be awarded to
the low bidder Tune Concrete Company.
The asphalt and aggregate bid had three bidders for the aggregate and
one bidder for the asphalt. The bid should be awarded to the low
bidder on aggregate and the only bidder on asphalt, APAC Arkansas,
McClinton Anchor Division.
The topsoil bid had no bidders and will be quoted on an as needed
basis.

of-way than required by the Master Street Plan for LS 01-4.00: Lot Split (Mary
Pauline Reed Trust, pp 640),submitted by David E. Lashley on behalf of Mary
Pauline Reed Trust for property located at 2283 S. School. The property is zoned
C-2, Thoroughfare Commercial and contains approximately 3.01 acres. The request
is to split into two tracts of 2.49 acres and 0.51 acres.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommended that the right-of-way dedication be
waived with regards to compliance with Master Street Plan requirements. Planning
Commission voted 7-0-0, to approve the requested lot split contingent upon the
City Council accepting a lesser dedication of right-of-way for the future
extension of School Street through the property (54' instead of 55'). This is
requested in order to accommodate an existing building that is encroaching on the
right-of-way required by the Master Street Plan.
