HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-00 RESOLUTIONi 0 RESOLUTION NO. 97-00 MICROFILMED A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND HIS REPRESENTATIVE TO HELP CREATE AND PARTICIPATE IN A STEERING COMMITTEE TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF A PUBLICLY OWNED TRANSIT SYSTEM IN NORTHWEST ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, Ozark Regional Transit is currently providing needed transportation services to the citizens of Northwest Arkansas; and WHEREAS, Ozark Regional Transit has made it known that it may not be able to continue providing said services to the citizens of Northwest Arkansas; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville recognizes the need for a public transit system in Northwest Arkansas; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville believes that it would be beneficial to create and participate in a steering committee to investigate the feasibility of a publicly owned transit system in Northwest Arkansas; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has received similar commitments from the City of Rogers, the City of Bentonville, and the City of Springdale. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to assist in the creation of a steering committee, along with the City of Rogers, the City of Bentonville and the City of Springdale, to study the feasibility of a publicly owned transit system in Northwest Arkansas. Section 2. The Mayor and one (1) representative of his choosing shall represent the City of Fayetteville on the steering committee. Section 3.
