BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section L That the City Council hereby awards Bid No. 2000-01 to Tune Concrete, for
ready -mix concrete; Bid No. 2000-02, to Sweetser Construction, for curb and gutter; Bid No. 2000-
03 to Cargill, Inc., for de-icing salt; Bid No. 2000-04 to Sorco Products, Inc., for Item 2, Item 3 and
Item 4; Bid No. 2000-05 to Blue Circle Cement Company, for portland cement; Bid No. 2000-06
to Les Rogers, Inc., for red hillside gravel; Bid No. 2000-07 to McClinton -Anchor, for asphalt and
aggregate; and Bid No. 2000-08 to Time Stnpping, Inc., for hot -applied thermoplaster pavement
markings. A copy of the bid tabulations is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and made a part
hereof.

be capable of constant agitation and equipped with a calibrated thermometer. Application can be by hand-held
or wheeled pour pots or use of a pressure applicator.

PROPER APPLICATION
If moisture is present when filling cracks, use a
torch to dry cracks and blow out with air-
crnuprnssor. When filling cracks, a V-Squ cegee should be
used to follow applicator so overfilling of cracks does
not occur. The surface may be blotted with cement,
limestone screenings, or saw].

To aid at calculating quantities needed:

1.) To ensure availability and timely delivery, please provide the
designatedplant a minimumweeks
asphalt tonnage in excess of 500 tons. Alt asphalt mixes are ',i ,S ' k

2.) If customer requires specification type asphalt mixes (ie. AJ TD, FAA), : y y
the customer has the responsibility for ordering and purchasing° ,' " gilii
the appropriate mixes.
3.) Asphalt mix prices are on a per ton basis F.O.B. plant location
excluding applicable taxes.

4.) There will be a $250 surcharge/day for any asphalt tonnage
less than 150 tons per day required from a plant not in
operation. Tonnage's will be calculated and assessed at the end
of the business day to determine if a surcharge is to be applied or not.
5.) Any asphalt that is ordered by the customer and produced at a
designated plant will be charged to the customer.
6.) When ordering specification asphalt mixes, the customer must
supply McClinton Anchor with the proper asphalt material code, job location,
job name and either a purchase order # or job # associated with the project.
7.) Please call 587-3300 with technical questions and for special
pricing.
8.) F.O.B. plant testing for Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC)
includes the following: gradation tests, air voids, marshall stability and AC
content only. QA/QC does not include rolling patterns, nuclear testing,
gyration results, density tests or any other types of lab tests.

SUBJECT: Bid Awards for Construction Materials
Bids have been opened for construction materials utilized by the
Street Division and other divisions for the fiscal year 2000. The
results of those bids are attached and this memo has staff's award
recommendations.
The asphalt and aggregate bid only had one bidder and should be
awarded to McClinton -Anchor.
The ready -mix concrete bid had three bids and should be awarded to
the low bidder, Tune Concrete.
The curb and gutter bid only had one bidder and should be awarded to
Sweetser Construction.
The red hillside gravel bid only had one bidder and should be awarded
to Les Rogers, Inc.
The hot -applied thermoplastic pavement marking bid only had one
bidder and should be awarded to Time Striping, Inc.
The de-icing salt bid had three bids and should be awarded to the low
bidder, Cargill, Inc.
The portland cement bid had one bidder and should be awarded to Blue
Circle Cement Company.
The topsoil bid had no bidders and may need to be rebid at a later
date.
The asphalt oil bid had three bidders with item one (AC -30) having no
bids and it will not be re -bid. Item two (AC -20) had one bidder and
should be awarded to Sorco Products, Inc. Item three had two bidders
and should be awarded to the low bidder, Sorco Products, Inc. Item
four had two bidders and should be awarded to the low bidder, Sorco
Products, Inc.
