Home My WebLink About02-00 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO 2-00 • • MICROFILMED A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY BE ISSUED TO A&B's TAXI FOR OPERATING A TRANSPORTATION SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE. WHEREFORE, the Fayetteville City Council sitting as the Fayetteville Public Transit Board, has determined that further taxicab service in the City is required by the public convenience and necessity; and, WHEREFORE, the applicant, A&B's Taxi is fit, willing, and able to perform such public transportation and to conform to the provisions contained in the Fayetteville Code of Ordinances. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1 That the City Clerk is authorized to issue a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to A&B's Taxi for operating a transportation service within the City of Fayetteville. A copy of which is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. Section 2 That the rates charged for all taxi companies operating in the City of Fayetteville shall be no higher than the highest rate approved by the City Council in an active Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. X W —1 r • w. • • December 14, 1999 Fayetteville City Council: My name is Annette Jean Jacobs. I would like to be approved for a Privilege License to run a taxi cab company. Doris M. Johnson is closing down C&H Taxi at 5 a.m., January 1, 2000, so there will be a great need for a taxi service in Fayetteville. I don't feel Cardinal and Tony C's Taxi (based in Springdale and Rogers) will be able to fill the need for taxi service for Fayetteville citizens. I will have three taxis when I start and will add more as I can. I have almost 4 years experience helping with the operation of the C&H Taxi with my mother, Doris M. Johnson. I know I would be able to do the work. I have never been in any type of trouble. Aside from some outstanding medical bills that I am making arrangements to pay, I have no debts. Parham Insurance will maintain insurance coverage for my company. I would appreciate your giving me the privilege of operating a professional taxi service in Fayetteville beginning on January 1, 2000. A&B's Taxi Attached you will find an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity from Annette J. Jacobs. Mrs Jacobs is the daughter of J4Ms. Doris Johnson, the owner of C&H Taxi. Earlier this month, Ms. Johnson informed my office that due to health problems she could no longer operate her taxi business and would be transferring her business to her daughter on January 1, 2000. The City's ordinances do not allow Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity to be transferred. Ms. Jacobs is required to submit her own application and provide all relative information. Ms. Johnson has agreed to maintain ownership of the business until January 5, 2000, which would allow her daughter to continue to operate in Fayetteville until the Certificate could be issued. Mrs. Jacobs has been working closely with her mother for the past four years Her husband has also been with the company for two years The eight current employees have been notified of the transfer of ownership.
