HomeMy WebLinkAbout7-98 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO 7-98 A RESOLUTION CONCURRING IN THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT'S PROPOSED DESIGN OF STATE HIGHWAY 265 FROM STATE HIGHWAY 16 TO STATE HIGHWAY 45. WHEREAS, the State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has programmed the section of State highway 265 between State Highway 16 and State Highway 45 for widening; and WHEREAS, AHTD's first proposal was to construct a four -lane with a continuous left turn lane for the entire length of the project; and WHEREAS, the AHTD conducted a public hearing on April 23, 1996, to discuss the proposed project; and WHEREAS, many comments were received, including Resolution 17-26 from the City in opposition to a five -lane section; and WHEREAS, the AHTD notified the City by letter dated December 15, 1997, that the review and evaluation of the comments received had been completed and that the design had been changed to provide (1) a four -lane undivided section from State Highway 16 to a point just south of Lover's Lane with left -turn lanes provided only at selected streets and (2) a four -lane undivided section with a continuous left -turn lane from a point just south of Lover's Lane to State Highway 45. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. The City of Fayetteville concurs in the design of the Highway as set forth in the December 15, 1997 letter. Section 2 The City of Fayetteville pledges to work with and assist the AHTD in all things necessary to complete the Highway 265 widening project as soon as possible.
