A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE EAST SIDE OF MT.
SEQUOYAH TO BE DEDICATED AS A CITY PARK TO BE
KNOWN AS MT. SEQUOYAH GARDENS PARK; AND TO
PRESERVE AND ENHANCE THE PANORAMIC VIEWS OF
FAYETTEVILLE AND THE SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE,
ARKANSAS:
Section 1. That the city land formerly containing the water treatment and storage facility
on the east side of Mt. Sequoyah, that has now been graded and sodded, be dedicated as a city park,
"Mt. Sequoyah Gardens".
Section 7. That development of this park should be coordinated in such a way as to
preserve and enhance the panoramic views of Fayetteville and its surrounding mountains that are
visible from the upper level. Grass, flowers, and small native flowering trees such as redbuds,
dogwoods, and fruit trees should be established in lower areas. Larger native shade trees should be
established in the upper picnic and viewing area.
