RESOLUTION NO. nn -93
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A SIX MONTH 1C
WASHINGTON COUNTY SALES TAX.
WHEREAS, Washington County is experiencing severe financial problems;
WHEREAS, early payment of the bonds used to buy the new Washington County
Courthouse will save us 1.5 million dollars in interest costs;
WHEREAS, a new Juvenile Detention Facility must be built and is necessary to detain
repeat juvenile offenders;
WHEREAS, improvements to the County Health Department and a New Co -Operative
Extension Service Bwldmg are necessary;
AND WHEREAS, passage of the provided six month penny sales tax will eliminate the
current need to permanently raise county land taxes.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCH. OF THE
CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS
Section 1. That the Council recommends to the citizens of Fayetteville that we vote
for the proposed one cent, six month county sales tax in continuing support of our county.
