RESOLUTION NO. 90 - 92

WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has historically and of long
duration provided the citizens of Northwest Arkansas with air
passenger service at Drake Field, the region's only primary
commercial airport, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville has unselfishly assumed the
responsibility for the provision of air carrier service for all the
citizens of Northwest Arkansas, and
WHEREAS, the historic growth of air passenger traffic at Drake
Field requires further airport development as outlined in the Drake
Field Master Plan to meet future air passenger service demands for
an all-weather airport, and
WHEREAS, the Drake Field Master Plan states that Drake Field
requires development to expand due to terrain, flood prone land and
surrounding land uses, and
WHEREAS, the Drake Field Master Plan states that further Drake
Field development will be needed to provide the ability of the
airport to properly and safely function as air carrier aviation
activity increases, and
WHEREAS, a planning and feasibility study is currently being
conducted to determine if, where, and how improved aviation
facilities could be built to meet the increasing demand for air
travel to and from Northwest Arkansas;
BE IT RESOLVED BY TEE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1. The City of Fayetteville acknowledges that
improved aviation facilities :oust be constructed at Drake Field or
a new airport within the region to meet the future need of the
citizens of the City of Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas for
expanded air passenger services.

Section 2. The City of Fayetteville acknowledges and
confirms that the constructicn of improved air carrier facilities
at a new airport could result in the replacement of Drake Field as
the region's primary commercial airport.
Section 3. In the event a new primary commercial
airport is built in Northwest Arkansas, the City of Fayetteville
states it's commitment to assist in the orderly transition of any
tenant, one or all, at Drake Field that states their desire to move
to a new airport.
