HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-92 RESOLUTION• r RESOLUTION NO. 89-92 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AND SUPPORTING THE BEAVER WATER DISTRICTS POSITION REQUESTING THE U.S. CORP OF ENGINEERS TO MAINTAIN ITS CURRENT POLICY OF NO MOWING OR CLEARING OF THE BEAVER LAKE SHORE LINE. WHEREAS, the U.S. Corp of Engineers is currently reviewing its lake shore management plan regarding Beaver Lake; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Fayetteville agrees with the Beaver Water District that keeping the shore line property in its natural state enhances water quality in the reservoir which is the source of drinking water for the citizens of Fayetteville; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Directors further agrees with the Beaver Water District that the natural growth around the lake serves as a filtering strip to remove turbidity and nutrients from over land flows and adds to the natural beauty of the reservoir; and, WHEREAS, the Board concurs with Beaver Water District that no clearing or mowing is in the best long term interest of all of the users of the reservoir. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: $action 1. That Board of Directors hereby adopts and supports the Beaver Water District position requesting the U.S. Corps of Engineers to maintain its current policy of no clearing or mowing of corp owned property along the shore line of Beaver Lake reservoir, leaving it in its natural state.
