RESOLUTION NO. 88-92
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF BOTTLE BILL
LEGISLATION.
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors recognizes the problems of
shrinking landfill space, skyrocketing waste disposal costs,
misspent energy and natural resources, and litter -strewn roadsides;
and,
WHEREAS, beverage container recovery rates are between 80% and
97% in states that have bottle bills and these states supply almost
all of the clean, presorted plactic that is recycled; and,
WHEREAS, the high rates of recovery can reduce the waste
stream by five to eight percent (by volume), thus saving landfill
space; and,
WHEREAS, that bottle bills are most effective when adopted in
the largest geographic area possible.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF
FAYE TEVILLE, ARKANSAS:
Section 1, That the Board of Directors hereby urges the
Federal Government to adopt beverage container deposit requirements
(a national bottle bill). A bottle bill on this level would be
most effective, but if a national bill isn't enacted:
,Section 2. The Board of Directors hereby urges the State
of Arkansas to adopt beverage container deposit requirements (a
state bottle bill). A bottle bill on this level would be more
effective, but if a state bill isn't enacted:

County Solid Waste Management District to adopt beverage container
deposit requirements (a district bottle bill).
Section 4. That a copy of this resolution shall be sent to
all interested parties as requested by members of the Fayetteville
