HomeMy WebLinkAbout80-92 RESOLUTION• • RESOLUTION NO. • 80-90 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FAYETTEVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR 1992. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS: Section 1. That the Hoard of Directors hereby approves the Fayetteville Economic Development Plan for 1992. A copy of the Fayetteville Economic Development Plan for 1992 is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof. PASSED AND APPROVED this _th day of May, 1992. Mission Statement: Primary emphasis of F.E.D.P. will be the expansion of existing business and recruiting of new business to Fayetteville while maintaining and improving our quality of life. CRITICAL OBJECTIVES: I. Support and Retain Existing Businesses in Fayetteville Action Plan A. Conduct annual ''business reeds" survey. B . Begin annual award to recognize outstanding business of the year, in conjunction with the annual Chamber meeting. C. Promote community awareness seminars conveying local business needs and concerns, 11. Attract New/Complementary Businesses to Fayetteville Action Plan A. Establish marketing plan. B . Identify "key target" businesses to solicit. C. Work with University of Arkansas Genesis Program in development of new business opportunities. III. Support Expanded Educational Opportunities Including Secondary Schools, Junior Colleges, University, and Trade/Technical Schools to increase Available Semi -Skilled and Skilled Labor Action Plan A. Survey businesses for labor needs. B . identify types of available training. C. Promote expansion of educational systems. IV. Explore Avenues to Expand and Increase the Overall Tax Base to Provide for Additional Revenues to the City of Fayetteville Action Plan A. Identify existing sources of tax revenues (by dollar volume and % of total). 13. Research "new" sources of tax revenues. C. Ask the city to conduct a "needs assessment" survey to determine cost versus tax dollar resources for future development, V. Provide Adequate, Trained Staff to Meet Critical Objectives Action Plan A. Hire economic development director. B. Provide annual budget to meet objectives for coming year. C. Provide adequate office space and support staff to accomplish objectives. VI. Review and Update Annually All Critical Objectives Action Plan A. Incorporate and prioritize new critical objectives B. The terms of the aforementioned contract. dictate that the city has the option to renew yearly for three (3) additional one (1) year terms. Notice of intent to renew is to be given by letter ninety (90) days prior to the end of the contract term. This letter will serve as our notice of intent to renew this contract in 1995, subject to the. City Council's approval of the yearly City budget.
