HomeMy WebLinkAbout177-92 RESOLUTIONRESOLUTION NO. 177-92 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO PARTICIPATE FOR A THIRD YEAR IN THE FOURTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT TASK FORCE. WHEREAS, the national drug problem is manifesting in Northwest Arkansas, creating grave social dangers for all segments of society; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville Police Department has assisted in development and operation of the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force (Task Force) program in coordination with other area municipalities and state and federal entities' assistance to intensity efforts to eradicate narcotics and dangerous drugs; and WHEREAS, The Task Force operations will be admrmstered by a five member control group comprised of the police chiefs of the municipalities of Fayetteville, Praine Grove, and Springdale; the Director of the University Police; and the Washington County Shenff, to be headquartered m Fayetteville, Arkansas and a fiscal officer will be on staff to assure compliance with all terms of the grant; and WHEREAS, the City of Fayetteville's proportionate share of the project as it has been proposed is $39,445. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS THAT: Section 1. The City's continued participation m the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task is hereby approved and authorized. Section 2. There is hereby appropnated from the City General Fund an amount of no more than $39,445 to fund the City's prorata share of the program. Section 3. The City of Fayetteville shall appoint the Chief of Police to serve as its representative to the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force Control Group and the Chief of Police or his representative shall have the authority to make recommendations and/or decisions concermng operations, financial matters within the scope of the adopted budget, and forfeitures and/or seizures on behalf of the City. Page 2 Resolution No. November 25, 1992 Section 4. The City of Fayetteville shall assign two (2) officers to the Task Force. Each assigned officer shall be provided by the City at the same salary and benefits including worker's compensation as other officers of the same rank from their home department. The City's expense of salary and benefits shall be reimbursed by the Task Force on a prorata share not less that 75% of such expenses depending upon federal and state funding levels. Such reimbursement shall be made monthly or quarterly upon request made by the City and approved by the Task Force. The hiring, disciplinary actions, and arrest authonty shall remain with the home employmg agency. Section 5. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign such documentation as necessary evidencing the City's participation PASSED AND APPROVED this 25th day of November , 1992.
